I was in one of my favorite cities recently. Bangkok.. A city bustling with new and exotic experiences and interesting cafe’s. So, in my search for a new cafe, I came across Caturday Cat Cafe. Google maps led me through plenty of narrow bylanes and even through some houses to get to this place. It really had me questioning whether this was a real place at all. But for the love of felines, I persisted. And just as we were about to call it a day and give up the search we found the elusive Caturday!
Here’s a useful map I found on their facebook page. I’ll use this next time:
It was nestled in a quiet lane at Coco Walk in Pratunam. It is well decorated inside with varied seating, and I was happy to see that there is no entry fee.
Eagerly we stepped into a cat paradise, with catwalks on the walls and perches near the ceiling too.
The place is full of cats of all shapes and sizes, lounging on their treehouse perches or playing with their toys. There are a few rules to keep in mind (don’t squeeze the cats, don’t pick them up, etc). The attendants make sure the cats and humans are all comfortable. At the counter, you can buy kitty treats and snacks to feed your new friends, and they also have a lot of toys for the cats.
My mum who has not been around many cats was won over by one elderly persian cat who plonked himself on her bag and waited to be petted by her.
We don’t have any pictures of the food and beverages, we were so completely beguiled by these friendly and beautiful creatures. We ate the mac and cheese with ham, and sipped on ice teas and coffee as we pretty much crawled all over the floor with everyone else and had a great time taking pictures and playing with all the kitty cats. It was a fun evening of feline appreciation, a good break away from the typical shopping or sightseeing excursions.
My daughter told us she wanted to live there in the “cat house”. Believe me, it took us a spectacular amount of willpower not to take at least one cat home.
Before leaving we bought keepsakes of some trippy 3d space postcards featuring the cats at Caturday.
If you are a cat lover in Bangkok, please visit this cafe. You won’t be disappointed!
